Free Stuff Hunter

When you enter any major discount store, you are immediately prone to all the “free samples” of the newest foods, beauty products, and other items that the store is promoting that day. And, while this can be a pain if you are in a hurry, it can also get you some great samples of new items and awesome coupons for these products if you just stop for a minute and try them out. My last visit to the local Wal-Mart produced some great free samples and coupons that I have already taken advantage of. Upon venturing down the asile for the lotions, I was hit by one of the “free sample” girls who was giving out samples of Suave’s new deoderant and lotions. Since I wasn’t in too big a hurry, I stopped and grabbed some of the samples to take home and use.

The first sample I grabbed was for Suave’s new ladies deoderant with a Sweet Pea scent. This tiny little deoderant found its way into my medicine cabinet, and was actually forgotten about for a week or so, until I ran out of my other kind and remembered that I had this tiny lifesaver waiting patiently on the shelf. So, I tried it out for a week (which was as long as this little sample lasted). Normally, I don’t purchase this brand of deoderant, but I have to admit that I was impressed with the sweet smelling, tiny sample. I performed just like the other brand that I am partial to, but smelled a lot better and actually matched the perfume that I normally wear. It also boasted that it wouldn’t streak or stain my clothes, which it didn’t, and I didn’t have those lovely, tell-tale while streaks on my shirts after I put them on. After using it for a week, I have decided to scrap the brand that I normally buy and save about $2 per stick by switching to the Suave brand. So, overall, I would give this tiny sample an “A”.

The second sample I grabbed was one of the new Suave lotions that is for extremely dry or rough skin. These samples of lotions were so tiny, that I went through one in a day or so. Plus, the lotion itself wasn’t all that impressive. The first time I tried to get a tiny dot out of the mini container, it ran down my hand, landing on the floor. Strike one, runny. When I finally got it out and managed not to drop it on the floor this time, it felt a little slimy and I found that within ten minutes, I was searching out another kind of lotion because this one just didn’t do the trick. After this first round with the tiny sample, it made it to my medicine cabinet and had since taken up residence in the back. So, overall, I would give this new lotion sample a “D” as it was runny, too hard to use, and didn’t do it’s job at all.

Suave is known for providing great quality products for a lower price than the other brands out there. Being a mom, I will usually go for the cheaper brand, just because it saves me money and I know that things just don’t last long in my house. So, the Suave brand is a staple in our home. With all the great Suave products out there, I will usually just pick up one, especially if it’s new, and head to the checkout line, trusting in the brand itself. And, for the deoderant that I sampled, that philosophy proved to be a good one, as I will probably buy it again and again. But, for the lotion, I wouldn’t purchase it if I knew that it didn’t do what it said that it would. I probably would have spent the money on it, and then let it sit in my cabinet or on a dusty shelf somewhere. So, I am really glad that I grabbed that sample while at the store.

And, to top it off, along with these free samples were some great coupons for mom, and some coloring books for the kids, which had mom wearing around a paper crown for about a week….

So, if you are in the market for a cheap deoderant that will perform just as well as those more expensive brands, the new Suave Sweet Pea is a great way to go… But, if you are in the market for a new lotion for dry skin, I’d keep on searching.
